Clergy

Fr Toby Boutle

Fr Toby Boutle has been the Parish Priest of Swindon New Town since 2020. Fr Toby writes, “It is a great privilege to be serving central Swindon as parish priest.

Before coming to Swindon, Fr Toby served his curacy in Chichester and was formed for ministry at St Stephen’s House in Oxford. Prior to ordination, Fr Toby had been a barrister in London for about a decade, specializing in trusts, succession, Court of Protection and charity matters. For many years, Toby was a trustee of the North London YMCA, and in Chichester helped set up a new charity providing hot meals to people who are homeless. He has also served as a governor of a secondary academy school.

In addition to his duties in the parish, Fr Toby is also an Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands, working with those discerning a call to diaconal or priestly ministry. Fr Toby also continues to serve as the Bishop of Chichester’s Parliamentary Chaplain in the House of Lords.

It is an honour to be a Priest in this parish, and I look forward to continuing to serve this diverse and richly-blessed community.”

My background is in Youth Work and Evangelism and I’ve been working in a Youth Work context for a decade. I’m passionate about working with children and teaching the faith to the next generation. I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone and working in Swindon!
